Day 39 Antequera to Alhuarin
Yesterday we welcomed Patrick and Alan to the peloton, which reduced the average age considerably.
We had planned for an early start this morning however despite the notice that breakfast was available at 7 this proved to be incorrect. We spent time waiting for breakfast sorting the bikes out and fitting them for Patrick and Alan.
The climb out of Antequera was steep in the extreme, what a heart starter this was, so we were glad to get onto a steady 7% incline to have a rest.
Once again the scenery was just wonderful and the road surface was like glass. We had 20 miles of roads that swept through the mountains with long corners, and plenty of climbs and descents.
We had a coffee stop in a village, we had 2 beers, 8 coffees and 3 cokes all for 11 euros.
The run into Alhuarin was very pleasant but with an increasing head wind. We were passed by two Spanish cyclists ,however the two new members with young legs and brave hearts soon reeled them in ad showed them a clean pair of heals.
In all a wonderful day and fitting that this was the last of the big days. tomorrow we are being joined by friends and family for the last day , a run along the sea front to Elviria.
we can now at last think of the final destination .
I will do a blog of the last day , however it may be a little delayed due to the partying planned for the end of what has been a life changing journey.
