Tourdesands NZ completed !!

"Jerry hi, some pics

Just in case you want some words .... We had a great time completing one of the down under legs of Tour De Sands on the Otago Rail Trail. A team of 6 set of from Olivers in Clyde in a howling NW gale (30-50knots estimate), which was on our backs and 20 degrees so not all bad. It became a light head wind by Alexandra. We heard later that further along the track at the higher elevations they had had the highest winds recorded on the ORT to date and people were getting blown off their bikes!! Not sure what Lindy-Anne ate for lunch on the forst date at Chatto Creek but shortly after she was doubled over in pain and could hardly walk let alone ride. Out came the bungee and I towed her up the hill to Omakau/Ophir. It didn't clear up until we got to Ophir for the night. Day 2 was cooler but with lighter winds and the most scenic of the four days through Poolburn Gorge and over various viaducts. Lindy-Anne felt great so we put it down to stitch. Ophir Awesome was a neat place to stay Day 3 was wet and cold with a head wind, almost snowing but we just got sleety rain. We all had good gear so stayed warm. Over the high point of the ride at 618m, gradually climbing for the previous two days. Stayed in Naseby and went Curling. Can't remember whether the girls or the boys won Day 4 was a very pleasant ride through rolling hills down the Taeiri gorge and onto Hyde where we were picked up and taken back to Clyde for the drive back to Christchurch. We met some very interesting people on the ride who were very interested in the Tour De Sands story and our very smart riding shirts. Geoff & GZ rode back each night to the start point of the day to pick up their car but joined us for all the other activities. Great to follow the main Tour on FB and good luck and be safe for the rest of the ride, amazing! Cheers Neil "

Well done Neil and friends , thanks for riding this it means a lot to me ,
